Schedule of Events for Monday, 17 May

Ljubljana, 16 May - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 17 May:

LJUBLJANA - Edmund Stoiber, the premier of the German state of Bavaria, is scheduled to begin a two-day working visit to Slovenia on Monday. Stoiber is to meet Prime Minister Anton Rop at 6:30 PM. Stoiber and Rop are set to open an exhibition of the earliest written records of the Slovenian language at 8 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly is open the regular session for May with questions time at 2 PM. The first to answer opposition queries will be Prime Minister Anton Rop, who will be questioned by the members of the opposition New Slovenia (NSi), Slovenian Democrats (SDS) and the SLS. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to be taking part in a two-day meeting of EU foreign ministers. The EU constitution is set to be on the agenda. Later in the day, the ministers are set to hold a meeting with EU defence ministers, among them Slovenia's Anton Grizold. In the evening, Grizold and Rupel are scheduled to open the new offices of the Slovenian mission to NATO. (STA)

STRASBOURG, France - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is set to host a three-day summit of parliamentary speakers. National Assembly Speaker Borut Pahor is due to attend.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Economics Ministry state secretaries Renata Vitez and Matjaz Logar and Education Ministry State Secretary Zoran Stancic are due to attend a two-day session of the EU council on competitiveness.

LJUBLJANA/BRNIK - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is set to continue his tour of the country, paying visits to the Civil Aviation Authority in Ljubljana and Brnik international airport.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions is to hold a press conference at 11 AM to present its stance on a general strike. An hour later, the Metal and Electronics Industry Union (SKEI) is to hold a press conference to speak about progress in negotiations with employers. (STA)

NOVO MESTO - Insurer Tilia is to present results for 2003.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS

LJUBLJANA - The non-parliamentary Women's Voice party is to present its list of candidates for the European Elections at 11 AM.
