Speaker Pahor Highlights Need for More Democratic Culture

Strasbourg, 18 May - The Council of Europe (CoE) is an excellent "classroom of democracy", Slovenia's Borut Pahor noted Tuesday in his address to a conference gathering speakers of European parliaments in Strasbourg. Pahor underscored the importance of democratisation, which he believes was a prerequisite to European unification, but also pointed to some problems, such as democratic deficit.
