Schedule of Events for Thursday, 20 May

Ljubljana, 19 May - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 20 May:

BRDO PRI KRANJU - President of the European Council, Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, is to arrive for a visit in the afternoon as part of his tour of EU capitals ahead of the Council's June session. He is to meet Prime Minister Anton Rop and President Janez Drnovsek. A press conference of the two PMs is scheduled for 15.40 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Scottish Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Jim Wallace is to continue his three-day visit to Slovenia with a press conference at 9 AM. Also on his agenda are meetings with Regional Development Minister Zdenka Kovac, chair of the parliamentary foreign policy committee Jelko Kacin and president of the Chamber of Commerce (GZS) Jozko Cuk. LJUBLJANA - The parliament is to continue its regular session with the third reading of the systemic bill on the erased on its agenda. However, if Parliament Speaker Borut Pahor gives a go-ahead to the latest referendum bid, the issue will not be discussed by the parliament. (STA)

PORTOROZ - Secretary General of the Federation of European Securities Exchange (FESE) Paul Arlman is to open the two-day 21st finance and stock market conference at 10 AM. Organised by the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, the event will feature central bank governor Mitja Gaspari, who will speak about ERM II, and a debate on the future of the Slovenian food industry. A press conference is scheduled for 7.30 PM. (STA)

DUBLIN, Ireland - A two-day session of the Conference of the Community and European Affairs Committees of EU Parliaments (COSAC), which is also attended by Slovenian lawmakers, is to wrap up.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to discuss changes to the act on general elections and changes to the act on referendum. (STA)

MURSKA SOBOTA - The trial in the case of brutal attack on journalist Miro Petek is to start after it was adjourned last week because of a request by the defence to remove two prosecutors from the trial, which was rejected by the court. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Tourist Board is to launch the 7th Slovenian tourist forum at 9.45 AM.
