Schedule of Events for Tuesday, 25 May

Ljubljana, 24 May - Below is a schedule of events for Tuesday, 25 May:

PORTOROZ - Annual meetings of the foreign ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) and the Adriatic Ionian Initiative (AII) at which Slovenia is to hand the AII presidency to Serbia-Montenegro. The participating ministers are set to review the situation in the respective regions. Members of the CEI troika are to speak to the press at 1:15 PM. Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is scheduled to hold another conference after the AII meeting, at 6:30 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - European Commissioner Frits Bolkestein, responsible for internal market, taxation and customs union issues, is to visit Slovenia. He is due to meet Finance Minister Dusan Mramor, Europe Minister Milan M. Cvikl, Economics Minister Matej Lahovnik and parliamentary committees on economy and finance, monetary policy. Mramor and Bolkestein are to speak to the press at 12:30 PM. (STA).

LJUBLJANA - Parliament is to wrap up the regular May session after it votes on whether to reject the latest referendum initiative challenging the systemic bill on the erased. Commencement at 9 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Slovakian Deputy PM and Economics Minister Pavol Ruska is due to pay an official visit at the invitation of Slovenian Economics Minister Matej Lahovnik.

TARGO MURES, Romania - Slovenian pharmaceutical company Lek is to open a new production facility. Prime Minister Anton Rop is to take part in the opening, thus wrapping up his two-day visit to Romania. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is to hold a press conference at 11:30 AM to speak about the Conference of European Transport Ministers that will be taking place in Ljubljana on 26 and 27 May. (STA)

SKOPJE, Macedonia - Former President Milan Kucan is to attend a conference organised by the Macedonian Forum for Euro-Atlantic Integration to present a paper themed "Republic of Slovenia - from a Former Republic of the Former Yugoslavia to the European Union".

UDINE, Italy - A ceremony at the conclusion of a peacekeeping mission of the Multinational Land Force, operating as part of the Kosovo Force; attendance by Slovenian peacekeepers also expected.

LJUBLJANA - The Jozef Stefan International Post-Graduate School is to be opened at 11:30 AM.

LJUBLJANA - A press conference ahead of the 37th international PEN meeting to be held at Bled.

LJUBLJANA - A new award for literature for children and youth is to be conferred. The name of the award, Desetnica, refers to the ancient Slovenian tradition of the tenth daughter having to leave home. (STA)

IZOLA - The "Isola Cinema - Cinema Island" international film festival is to get underway.

VIENNA, Austria - An exhibition showcasing eight Slovenian and eight Austrian young artists is to open.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS 2004

NOVA GORICA - Leader of the junior coalition United List (ZLSD) Borut Pahor is to meet the leader of Italy's Democratic Party of the Left Piero Fassino on the border between Slovenia's Nova Gorica and Italy's Gorizia. The meeting is part of the election campaign of the Party of European Socialists.
