PORTOROZ - The 14th Slovenian Political Sciences Days, organised by the Slovenian Association of Political Sciences, are to come to an end after a debate on the opportunities offered by EU membership and panels on reform of higher education and the role of national parliaments in the EU.
LJUBLJANA - The 50th International Wine Competition, the oldest such event in the world, is to get underway, running until 1 May. A jury of 39 international wine taster will sample 835 different wines from 28 countries. The most samples, 186, were entered by Slovenian winemakers. Other countries with significant numbers of entries are Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Japan. The awards for the best wines are to be presented on 10 June.
BLED - The final day of the programme of the 37th International Writers Meeting is to see the participants hold a picnic. The meeting, which is organised by the Slovenian PEN centre, will be wrapped up on Sunday.
BLED - The Youth Party (SMS) and the non-parliamentary Green Party are to hold a joint press conference on the preservation of Slovenian cultural heritage in the European union.
