Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 5 to 11 June

Ljubljana, 12 June - Visiting Slovenian troops in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday, PM Anton Rop said Slovenia will attempt to become one of the countries commanding the peacekeeping operation in Bosnia when the mission is handed over to the EU. Defence Minister Anton Grizold discussed this issue with his British opposite number Geof Hoon later in the week, with further discussions expected when Rop visits London later this month. Meanwhile, Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin visited Slovenia this week. Apart from holding talks with Slovenian officials, Voronin also joined Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek in opening a conference that examined the future role of the OSCE.
