Schedule of Events for Monday, 21 June

Ljubljana, 20 June - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 21 June:

BRDO PRI KRANJU/LJUBLJANA - Responding to an invitation by President Janez Drnovsek, Swiss President Joseph Deiss will be paying an official visit. Following the talks at Brdo Castle, both heads of state are scheduled to make a statement to the press at noon. In the afternoon Deiss is due to meet PM Anton Rop, Speaker of Parliament Borut Pahor, Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic and opposition SDS legislators. Visits to the Chamber of Commerce (GZS) and drug maker Lek are also scheduled. (STA)

SENTILJ - Former President Milan Kucan is scheduled to meet newly-elected Austrian President Heinz Fischer in late afternoon. They are expected to exchange views on the situation in Europe after EU enlargement and bilateral cooperation. After the meeting at the Sentilj/Speielfeld border crossing at 5:30 PM, they are are expected to resume the talks at Grassnitzberg.

MARIBOR - A press conference is scheduled for 10 AM ahead of the inauguration of a logistics centre catering to the needs of the Slovenian Armed Forces and NATO. At hand for the conference will be the managers of the transport company Viator&Vektor and the Maribor vehicle maker. The new facility is to be opened by Defence Minister Anton Grizold at 11 AM. BLED - The 17th Bled E-Business Conference is due to begin at 9 AM. Organised by the GZS, the University of Maribor, the European Commission and the government, this time the three-day event is focusing on the topic of global e-integration. A press conference is scheduled for 11:30 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - A delegation of the Albanian Ministry for Local Administration and Decentralisation will paying a visit until 23 June to learn about the organisation of Slovenia's system of protection against disasters and discuss options for cooperation with the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief.

LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - The EU agriculture ministers, among them Slovenia's Milan Pogacnik, are due to meet for a two-day session to discuss topic of fisheries, the European Action Plan for Organic Food and Farming, as well as veterinary negotiations with Russia and WTO negotiations on liberalisation of trade in agricultural products.

MADRID, Spain - Europe Minister Milan M. Cvikl will be paying a working visit to Spain, where he is due to meet Economics and Finance Minister Pedro Solbes, Foreign Ministry Secretary General for the EU Miguel Angel Navarro and Ana Palacio, chair of the mixed commission for European affairs. The EU's 2007-2013 financial perspective is expected to figure as one of the top issues discussed.

LJUBLJANA - The Government Media and PR Office is to hold a press conference at 11 AM ahead of the main ceremony to mark National Day on the eve of 25 June.

LJUBLJANA - Alojz Petrle, recently elected a member of European Parliament on the slate of opposition New Slovenia (NSi), is scheduled to speak to the press at 10 AM to comment on the topical EU affairs.

LJUBLJANA - Interior Minister Rado Bohinc is expected to appear at a press conference at 12:30 PM to outline changes in the road safety act passed last week.

KOPER - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha has been invited to join local business officials in a debate about the Slovenian transport policy at 5 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The shadow cabinet of the opposition Slovenian Democrats (SDS) is to stage a public debate at 5 PM to discuss the topic of security for the citizens and their property.

BRNIK - The construction of a new car park at Ljubljana International Airport is to be launched.

VENICE, Italy - A multimedia show entitled "Borders" will open at 6 Pm at the Slovenian A+A gallery.

LJUBLJANA - The Brezice Festival Group is to outline this summer's programme of events at a press conference scheduled for noon in Ljubljana (at 9 AM a press conference is to be held at Brezice).

LJUBLJANA - A press conference is scheduled for 12:30 PM to outline the programme of the "Imago Sloveniae" (Images of Slovenia) and the summer festival in the historical centre of Ljubljana as one of its most important parts.

NOVO MESTO - A press conference is scheduled for 2 PM ahead of the 3rd international short film festival SNIFF.
