Responses regarding the attack on the Slovenian elementary school in the Trieste region
Ljubljana, 31 October - The Information Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today, that the Minister dr. Dimitrij Rupel addressed the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. de Michaelis regarding the attack staged at the Slovenian elementary school in Zgonik in the Trieste region. Dr. Rupel stated in a letter to the Italian colleague that the anti - Slovenian activities of the neo - fascists are no news. "However, these last barbarian events are a cause of additional concerns, when, particularly after our last meeting, the relations between the two good neighbors, the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Italy, are strengthening in all respects and after a complete readiness to procure integral protection for the Slovenian minority in Italy was clearly expressed on your part", wrote the Minister dr.Rupel. He asked the Minister Gianni de Michelis to accept this statement of grave concerns of the Slovenian public regarding the extremist vandalism in Zgonik, where the name tag of the school was demolished and the monument to the victims of the war was vandalized.
