Dimitrij Rupel attends the FDP Congress in Suhl
Ljubljana, 2 November - Slovenian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Dimitrij Rupel, was a guest at the opening ceremony and first working day of the 42nd Congress of the F.D.P., the German liberal party. The congress will take place in Suhl, not far from Erfurt, therefore in eastern Germany, from November 1-3. At the congress, Dr. Otto Graf Lambsodorff was re-elected party president and a special document on Slovenia was passed. The document proclaims the necessity of the acknowledgement of Slovenia and plans the path of an independent and sovereign Slovenia following acknowledgment, i.e. a contract for association with the European Community. The German liberals, a member of which is also German Foreign Minister Genscher, are for the cessation of all aid to Yugoslavia as a whole and for sanctions against the "non-peaceable" republics.
