Lawmakers to Elect New Speaker on Monday
Ljubljana, 11 July - After the parliament's speaker and his deputy, Borut Pahor and Miha Brejc, handed in their resignations last week, the lawmakers will be electing new leadership on Monday at the start of their last session before the holidays. A group of deputies put forward Feri Horvat of the United Lists (ZLSD) as the candidate for the speaker, while the sacked foreign minister, Dimitrij Rupel, was proposed as deputy speaker by the opposition Slovenian Democrats (SDS).
