Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 17 to 23 July
Ljubljana, 24 July - Parliaments rushed this week to complete their work before the summer recess. Yet while the Slovenian parliament met for its last session to wrap up its four-year term, the European Parliament completed its maiden session for this term. Both sessions are considered a success: the domestic lawmakers managed to rush through an amended act providing relief to the victims of the recent earthquake, while the MEPs managed to confirm a new European Commission president, appoint a new president for themselves and divide among the political factions seats in the Parliament's 20 committees.
