Mr. Peterle and dr. Rupel on a visit to Danmark

Ljubljana, 14 November - The President of the Executive Council of the Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Lojze Peterle, and the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, dr. Dimitrij Rupel, stopped in Copenhagen today, the visit being part of their Scandinavian tour. They were received on separate meetings by the Danish Prime Minister Mr. Paul Schlueter, the President of the Parliament, Mr. Hans Peter Clausen, and the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Uffe Elleman Jensen. The Danish representatives expressed their hopes, that the last peace initiative put forth by Lord Carrington regarding the solution of the Yugoslav crisis, will be a success. As long as a viable peaceful solution of the crisis can be envisioned, Danmark is not going to unilaterally proclaim the diplomatic recognition of Slovenia. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jensen, did stress, however, that Slovenia does fulfill all the internationally acknowledged standards regarding the diplomatic recognition and will be treated accordingly after the resolution of the crisis. Danmark is prone to act conjointly with the other members of the EC, but is also considering a unilateral diplomatic recognition, together with some other countries of the EC, in case the peace conference fails. The Danish hosts also surmised that Slovenia will be in a very difficult position after the sanctions, directed against Yugoslavia as a whole, condoned in Rome will be in effect.
