Is the port of Trieste (Trst) facing financial collapse?

Ljubljana, 15 November - Total financial collapse threatens the port of Trieste (Trst), as the court has confiscated, i.e. blocked all the port's bank accounts and investments to the value of 13 billion Liras - the sum that the port authorities owe the group of companies building the "Adriaterminal" in the old dock area. This amount covers the difference between the planned price and the actual price of the construction work - a difference in price for which, according to the group of investing companies, the harbour authorities are to blame. Those familiar with the problem are of the opinion that the financial difficulties of this important economic institution can only be solved with the aid of the "Finporto" finance company, which is also co-owner of the port. The courts are to pass judgement regarding the dispute which has been dragging on for several months now, some time in the first half of December, reports the Primorski Dnevnik daily.
