Ljubljana, 22 August - Schedule of events in the week from 23 to 29 August:

MONDAY, 23 August

KAMNIK - The executive council of the senior coalition Liberal Democracy (LDS) is to be in session discussing current political developments and setting a date for the congress at which the party will confirm its manifesto.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenia and Russia are scheduled to hold regular political consultations. The Russian side will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov. Fedotov is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl.

BOVEC - Contracts are to be signed for the construction of the first houses to be built for people whose homes were destroyed by July's earthquake in northwestern Slovenia.

NOVA GORICA/MEDANA - The 8th "Days of Poetry and Wine" are set to get underway.

TUESDAY, 24 August

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl is scheduled to meet representatives of the Slovenian minority in Hungary ahead of Thursday's visit to Hungary.

LJUBLJANA - The Ministry of the Information Society and Natasa Pirc Musar, the authorised representative for access to public information, are expected to hold a joint press conference to present the first year of the public information act.

ZALEC - Agriculture Minister Milan Pogacnik is to travel to Zalec for the beginning of this year's hop harvest.

WEDNESDAY, 25 August

LJUBLJANA - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is scheduled to present his ministry's answer to the opposition's interpellation motion.

FELDBACH, Austria - Agriculture Minister Milan Pogacnik is scheduled to hold a working meeting with Austrian counterpart Josef Proell. Pogacnik is also scheduled to meet representatives of the Slovenian minority in the Austrian province of Carinthia.

LJUBLJANA - Publisher Mladinska knjiga is to hold a press conference on cooperation with publisher Reader's Digest on the Slovenian and Croatian markets.

THURSDAY, 26 August

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl is due to pay a one-day visit to Hungary.

LJUBLJANA - The government is expected to hold its regular weekly session.

LJUBLJANA - Hardware chain Merkur is set to open a megamarket in the heart of Ljubljana's BTC retail hub.

SAMOBOR, Croatia - Retail chain Era is scheduled to open a supermarket near the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

FRIDAY, 27 August

KRANJ - The opposition People's Party (SLS) is to hold a round table on demographic and family issues.

SATURDAY, 28 August

GORNJA RADGONA - The 42nd International Agriculture and Food Fair, one of the biggest fairs of its kind in the region, is due to get underway.

SECOVLJE/PIRAN/IZOLA - Mayors from Croatia, Slovenia and Italy are to take part in a traditional salt production display, the final event of the 2nd Saltworks Festival.
