Italian vice-consulate in Rijeka

Rijeka, 19 November - Italian foreign ministry has announced the opening of vice-consulate in Rijeka, writes Novi list today in citing an ANSA report. Italy wishes to establish permanent diplomatic presence in all parts of the hitherto Yugoslav federation with the aim of obtaining a better and constant view of political aspirations and trends in the Yugoslavia crisis, reports the Rijeka daily. Italy has long had its general consulates in Zagreb and Koper, and another one was opened this summer in Ljubljana. In this connection Italian foreign minister Ginni De Michelis noted that Italy no longer wants to rely on information from Belgrade as new times have brought along new necessities.
