Slovenia can support no more refugees
Ljubljana, 22 November - The Slovene Civil Defence Headquarters have reported that the Croatian Refugee Office intends shortly to direct several thousand more Croatian refugees to Slovenia. According to the official statistics, there are at the moment already around 22,000 refugees in Slovenia. The Republic of Slovenia can not support any more refugees and despite the insistence of the Croatian Refugee Office, must, for this reason, refuse all future refugees entry. The corresponding measures will also be taken by authorities along the Slovene border and in the interior of the country in order to stem the huge tide, as the Slovene Civil Defence Headquarters believe that shelter could be found for these people in the regions of Croatia that are not under direct threat, such as Istria and the mountainous Croatian Zagorje region. The Slovene Civil Defence has also informed Croatia that it is prepared to assist in organizing the transport of refugees to Istria and other safe regions in Croatia via Slovenia.
