Ljubljana, 5 September - Schedule of events in the week from 6 to 12 September:

MONDAY, 6 September

BRDO PRI KRANJU/LJUBLJANA - Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen is to arrive for a working visit to Slovenia. He is scheduled to meet PM Anton Rop, President Janez Drnovsek and Parliament Speaker Feri Horvat. The two prime ministers are also to participate in a panel debate about the importance of cooperation among EU states for a more efficient Europe.

NOORDWIJK, The Netherlands - Agriculture Minister Milan Pogacnik is to attend an informal meeting of EU agriculture ministers.

BLED - A panel debate about the consequences of EU enlargement on the European animal breeding is to be held within the 55th congress of the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP).

KOPER - ERM II and its effect on the Slovenian monetary policy is to be discussed at a meeting of businessmen from the coastal region and central bank governor Mitja Gaspari.

LJUBLJANA - The Agency for Radioactive Waste is to hold its first regular annual meeting and a debate about radioactive waste management at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Government Office for Religious Communities is to hold a closed-door meeting attended by representatives of religious communities in Slovenia at which Europe Minister Milan M. Cvikl is to speak about Slovenia's priorities in the EU in 2004.

LJUBLJANA - A press conference is to be held before the beginning of the 19th international writers' meeting Vilenica, which will be held between 6 and 12 September.

TUESDAY, 7 September

LJUBLJANA - Italian MP Antonio Di Pietro, a former prosecutor, judge and justice official, is to pay a visit to Slovenia to discuss the fight against corruption.

LJUBLJANA - A delegation of the European Commission Directorate General for the Information Society is to arrive for a two-day visit.

LJUBLJANA - A three-day conference of the European Parliament group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) is to open.

DUBROVNIK, Croatia - Defence Ministry State Secretary Milan Jazbec is to attend an international summer seminar "NATO and SE Europe", held by the Croatian Atlantic Council between 6 and 12 September.

WEDNESDAY, 8 September

VIENNA, Austria - Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl is to pay an official visit to Austria at the invitation of Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner.

LJUBLJANA - The deadline for submitting candidacies for the 3 October general election will expire at midnight.

LJUBLJANA - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha and Europe Minister Milan M. Cvikl are to separately meet Paolo Costa, the chairman of the European Parliament committee of regional policy, transport and tourism.

LJUBLJANA - European Minister Milan M. Cvikl is to attend debates on the key challenges of the EU's next financial perspective and on EU's foreign policy challenges organised by the ALDE.

CELJE - The 37 International Trade Fair is to get underway.

LJUBLJANA - Retailer Mercator is to speak to the press ahead of opening a chain of discount stores.

THURSDAY, 9 September

LJUBLJANA - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is to meet Slovak Minister of Transport, Post and Telecommunication Pavol Prokopovic.

BLED - A three-day international conference "Defending Borders in SE Europe", organised by the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies, the US Defence Department and the Slovenian Defence Ministry is to open.

BRDO PRI KRANJU - A two-day conference of Slovenian architects and construction engineers from Slovenia and abroad is to open, organised by the Slovenian World Congress.

LASKO - A two-day round table debate about the funding of small and middle-sized companies in Slovenia is to open, organised by the Small Business Development Centre.

LJUBLJANA - A two-day annual assembly of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork is to begin.

LJUBLJANA - MPs are to attend a fare-well reception at the end of their four-year term.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to hold a regular weekly session.

FRIDAY, 10 September

LJUBLJANA - The Foreign Ministry and the Slovenian Atlantic Council are to hold a panel debate titled "Strengthening the Cooperation between the OSCE and other International Organisations". The participants are to be addressed by Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl.

SCHEVENINGEN, The Netherlands - Finance Minister Dusan Mramor is to attend a two-day informal meeting of EU finance ministers, which will continue the negotiations on the EU's next financial perspective.

VILNIUS, Lithuania - The Chief of Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Major General Ladislav Lipic is to attend a regular annual meeting of NATO chiefs-of-staff which will be underway between 10 and 13 September.

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl is to receive Thai cabinet minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon.

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andrej Logar is to receive a delegation of the Finnish parliamentary commission of foreign relations headed by chair Liisa Jaakonsaari.

MARIBOR - Information Society Minister Pavel Gantar is to host a meeting of ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in charge of the information society.

LJUBLJANA - The Statistics Office will celebrate its 60th anniversary in an event also attended by PM Anton Rop.

CELJE - A meeting of businessmen from Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia-Montenegro is to take place at the 37th International Trade Fair.

SLOVENSKA BISTRICA - The Youth Party (SMS) is to present its candidates at the general election.

SATURDAY, 11 September

KOPER - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is to attend the opening of a European energy terminal.

SUNDAY, 12 September

LJUBLJANA - The finals of the Miss Slovenia 2004 competition.
