Ljubljana, 7 September - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 8 September:

VIENNA, Austria - Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl is to pay an official visit to Austria at the invitation of his Austrian counterpart Benita Ferrero-Waldner. A news conference is scheduled for 11 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The regular session of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) is to resume; the second day is to feature panels on the key challenges in the next EU financial period (3 PM); the mechanisms encouraging the European economy's competitive ability (4:10 PM); and a next round of EU enlargement and other foreign policy-related challenges (5:20 PM). LJUBLJANA - Transport Minister Marko Pavliha is to meet Paolo Costa, chair of the European Parliament committee of regional policy, transport and tourism to discuss pan-European transport routes. A news conference at 10 AM. (STA)

CELJE - The 37 International Trade Fair is to get underway at 11 AM, featuring 1,712 exhibitors from 34 countries on a surface area of 60,000 sq. metres in what is the largest fair in Slovenia and second largest trade fair in Europe. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Economics Minister Matej Lahovnik is to meet Thailand's trade representative Kantathi Suphamongkhon, who is on an official visit from 7 to 11 September. A news conference at 9:30 AM, to be followed by a business conference at the Chamber of Commerce at 10:30 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Retailer Mercator is to speak to the press ahead of the opening a chain of discount stores, Hura!, at 1 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The establishment of the publishing Mladinska knjiga Group is to be revealed at a news conference at 11 AM. (STA)

BRNIK - Slovenia's flag carrier Adria Airways is to present its admission to the Star Alliance at 11 AM. The company's results are also to be revelaed. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Justice Minister Zdenka Cerar is to meet a delegation of the Swedish parliamentary justice committee led by vice chair Rolf Olsson to discuss upgrading the Slovenian justice system, and the rule of law; at 9 AM.

CELJE - Interior Minister Rado Bohinc is to meet representatives of the printing company Cetis and the company Mirage to discuss the introduction of biometric data into Slovenia's passports.

AMMAN, Jordan - Together Foundation, the Ljubljana-based regional centre for children's psychological and social welfare, is to launch a last series of courses to train Iraqi experts, teachers and medical workers working with children. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The third volume of the book "Sources about Slovenia's Democratization and Independence" by historian Bozo Repe is to be launched at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - "The Ambassador of All", the book by former diplomat Jozef Kunic, is to be presented to the press at 11 AM.

GLASGOW, Scotland - Scotland will play Slovenia in group 5 of the qualifier for the 2006 Football World Cup at 9 PM. The other two matches in the same group are Norway - Belarus and Moldova - Italy.

CELJE - Slovenia will play France in the qualifier for the 2005 European Basketball Championships at 6:30 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The deadline for submitting candidacies for the 3 October general election expires at midnight. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The opposition Youth Party (SMS) is to outline its view on Slovenia's foreign policy at a news conference at noon.

LJUBLJANA - The non-parliamentary Party of Ecological Movements (SEG) is to present its candidates at 10 AM.
