Vajgl Attends Remembrance Ceremony for Basovizza Victims
Trieste, 12 September - Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl has attended a remembrance ceremony for four Slovenian patriots who were executed near the Italian town of Basovizza in 1930 by Italy's fascist regime. The keynote speaker at the event was poet Alojz Rebula, a member of the Slovenian minority living in Italy, who said the four men were freedom-fighters who led a campaign against the fascist regime's violent assimilation of the Slovenian and Croatian minorities.
