LJUBLJANA - Austrian President Heinz Fischer is to pay an official visit to Slovenia to meet Slovenia's top officials, including his counterpart Janez Drnovsek. The two presidents are to speak to the press at 12:15 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary foreign policy committee is to hold two sessions, one on the measures aimed to calm the situation in the Piran Bay, where incidents involving fishing boats have become a staple, and the other on appointments of diplomats. (STA)

CELJE - The curtain is to be drawn on the 37th International Trade Fair, with a panel at 11 AM on Slovenia's development strategy to be attended by Economics Minister Matej Lahovnik. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Statistics Office is to reveal preliminary figures about GDP trends in the second quarter of 2004. (STA)

ZAGREB, Croatia - Mateja Kunc, CEO of Slovenia's travel agent Globtour Ljubljana, is to speak to the press following the bankruptcy of its Prague-based subsidiary, Globtour Praha; at 1 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The launch of "The Takeover of the Success Story", the book by Dimitrij Rupel, a former foreign minister, at 11 AM.

MOSCOW, Russia - Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic is to pay a working visit to Moscow to attend the 3rd conference of world mayors. She is also expected to meet two officials of the Moscow region.

LJUBLJANA - The Institute of Health Insurance (ZZZS) and its director Borut Miklavcic are to speak to the press at 2:30 PM about the institute's operations.

MORAVSKE TOPLICE - Spa operator Terme 3000 is to hold a press conference as it opens a new wellness centre at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The name of the winner of this year's Marjan Rozanc Award for best collection of essays is to be revealed.

LJUBLJANA - Designers from 14 countries will be the main attraction of this year's Biennial of Industrial Design, which will be underway in its 19th edition between 15 September and 15 October.

LJUBLJANA - The 11th edition of the Ex ponto international theatre and dance festival is to begin, running until 27 September and focussing on contemporary forms of violence.

PROSTEJOV, Czech Republic - Slovenia is to take on the Czech Republic in the third round of qualifications for the 2005 European Basketball Championships, group D, after winning both previous matches (France and Poland); at 7 PM. (STA)

2004 GENERAL ELECTION

NOVA GORICA - A debate on the EU and the national interest on Slovenia's western border with Italy is to begin at 6 PM, featuring Dimitrij Rupel, a former foreign minister, and historian Janko Prunk.

LJUBLJANA - The Consumers' Association of Slovenia is to hold a news conference at 11 AM to outline its appeal to all political parties regarding consumer's protection. (STA)

BLED - The Liberal Democrats (LDS) are to outline an initiative to manage the historical Bled Castle and touch on the relevant government measures at 11 AM.
