Ljubljana, 21 September - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 22 September:

NEW YORK, United States - FM Ivo Vajgl is to meet chair of the 59th session of the UN General Assembly Jean Ping. He is also to attend a meeting of EU foreign ministers with US Secretary of State Colin Powell. Several bilateral meetings are on Vajgl's agenda as well. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Director General of the European's Commission enlargement department Fabrizio Barbass is to pay a courtesy call, meeting PM Anton Rop and Europe Minister Milan M. Cvikl. At 10 AM, he is to sign an agreement on an aid programme, the successor to the Phare programme. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (GZS) is to host the first national conference of technology networks. The participants are to be addressed by Prime Minister Anton Rop, Economics Minister Matej Lahovnik, Education Minister Slavko Gaber, Information Society Minister Pavel Gantar and GZS president Jozko Cuk. The conference will kick off at 9:30 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The National Council, the upper house of parliament, is to hold a session to debate Slovenia's development strategy; the session begins at noon.

LJUBLJANA - A public debate is to be held on the draft development strategy for Slovenia as part of the LUPA festival of non-governmental organisations; at 3 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Economic and Social Council, a forum of employers, unions and the government, is to meet at 10 AM to discuss the proposed Employment Action Plan. (STA)

ST. KANZIAN, Austria - A two-day conference of the Sustainable Energy Policy - interRegiona Action Program (SEPiRAP) is to begin. Slovenian and Austrian energy experts are expected to attend.

ZAGREB, Croatia - A delegation of the Slovenian parliamentary commission for Slovenians living abroad is to discuss the position of the Slovenian community in Croatia with officials of the Croatian parliament.

LJUBLJANA - A news conference is to be held ahead of the 10th Slovenian Festival of Science, which is to run from 19 to 21 October.

IZOLA - The 3rd Izola Boat Show is to open, running until 26 September.

LJUBLJANA - Independent Stefan Hudobivnik is to speak to press about the obstacles he is facing in standing as an independent candidate in the upcoming general election; at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The opposition Youth Party (SMS) is to present its environmental protection programme at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The non-parliamentary Slovenia Is Ours (SNJ) party is to hold a press conference on Slovenia's regionalisation and EU aid; at 1 PM.
