Ljubljana, 22 September - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 23 September:

NEW YORK, United States - FM Ivo Vajgl is to hand over ratification documents for protocols to three conventions and the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the International Criminal Court. His last engagement in New York will be taking part in a ministerial in support of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. (STA)

CRNI KAL - A special ceremony is to take place as the motorway section between Klanec and Crni Kal in the southwest of Slovenia is opened at 5 PM. The opening, which is to be attended by around 100 guests, including PM Anton Rop, is to be followed by a statement to the press. (STA)

PORTOROZ - The 11th Days of Slovenian Administration are to begin, focussing on the country's EU entry. The three-day event is to be attended by several ministers. News conference at 5:30 PM.

GORNJA RADGONA - Modern Army, the 2nd international defence fair, is to open at 11 AM, to run until 26 September. Under the motto "Stronger for Peace", the fair will also be attended by the armed forces of Austria, Croatia and Hungary.

LJUBLJANA - Police security in Central and Eastern Europe from the aspect of problems of criminal justice will be scrutinised at an international conference. The event is to be addressed by the Slovenian justice and interior ministers, with a news conference at 11:30 AM. (STA)

CHIOGGIA, Italy - Minister of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy Janez Kopac is to take part in a meeting of the committee for the environment, agriculture and regional democracy of the CoE Parliamentary Assembly focussing on the sustainable development of the Adriatic.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to convene for the regular weekly session, discussing among other things the national employment action plan. A news conference is scheduled at 1 PM. (STA)

BRNIK - Aerodrom Ljubljana, the manager of the Ljubljana airport, is to present an assessment of its cooperation with Hungary's air carrier Malev at a news conference at noon.

LJUBLJANA - Early results of this year's tourist season are to be presented by the Slovenian Tourism Board and several other organisations at a news conference at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Hypo Alpe-Adria Bank is to hold a news conference to present the bank's operations in the Alps-Adriatic region at 3 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Amnesty International Slovenia is to launch its "Electric Shock? No Thanks!" campaign in a bid to urge the public to express their dissatisfaction with the introduction of electric shock weapons into the Slovenian police force and their sale in Slovenia; from 2 to 5 PM.

MARIBOR - Maribor Mayor Boris Sovic and a delegation of Maribor's twin city of Russia's Sankt Petersburg, who are visiting from 21 to 26 Sept, are to speak to the press at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The book "Women in Parliamentary Politics: Hungarian and Slovene Cases Compared" is to be launched by the research Peace Institute at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - A book on the situation of the Roma in Slovenia and the EU is to be presented to the press at 10 AM. Also atttending the news conference will be EU Ambassador to Slovenia Erwan Fouere.

LJUBLJANA - Dissatisfied with the government policy on beekeeping, the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association is to stage a protest at noon.

LJUBLJANA - The 35th "Nature - Health" fair promoting healthy lifestyles is to begin, alongside the 2nd festival dubbed Sportfest.

LJUBLJANA - Results of the latest Politbarometer public opinion poll are to be released at 11 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) is to hold a convention to present its candidates at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Representatives of NGOs are to organise a panel with representatives of the parties standing for election on whether Slovenian politics is friendly to NGOs. The event, scheduled for 6 PM, is part of the LUPA festival of NGOs.
