250 local administration communities as of new
Ljubljana, 28 November - The Commission of the Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia on the Local Self-Government addressed today the question of the definiton of the local administration communities in the draft of the new constitution. The speakers were comparing different formulations that could be submitted to the Constitutional Commission but did not take a final stand on the differing propositions since the local self-government will be addressed also in various other laws. The Commitee will form a special working group that will help preparing the standpoints for the Law on Local Self-Government. The efforts in this direction will have to be expedited since the local communities are due to transform in the period of one year. The members of the Commitee were also informed on the way new local communities are to be established in Slovenia. Instead of 62 local communities at the present time we should have 250 of them in the future.
