Rupel: The American Policy Remains the Same

Ljubljana, 30 November - It seems that Slovenia will have to wait for acquiring the status of observer in the United Nations until it's statehood is internationally acknowledged. This opinion was expressed by the Slovenian Foreign Minister Dr. Dimitrij Rupel following a discussion with the high officials of this international organization in New York. Its interesting to note that Russia is also in the "waiting room" for a seat in the palace on the East River! Rupel summed up his impressions last night following his visits to France, the United States, Canada, Luxembourg and Belgium. The common denominator of his numerous talks with the highest officials of the mentioned countries is sympathy with Slovenia and the anticipation, that it will be acknowledged sometime within the next weeks "or months".
