Italian Union dissatisfied with the law on minorities
Ljubljana, 4 December - The Italian Union which is dissatisfied with the text on the law on minorities of the Republic of Croatia and which will be debated in the Croatian parliament today and tomorrow, has made its critical comments public. It demands the minorities are given the right to initiate a process for changing the legally constituted norms regarding the circumstances and the rights of minorities in the Republic of Croatia. It is also demanding the official use of the minority language in relations with the bodies of state and local authorities and the right of minorities to own real estate properties in ethnically mixed regions. The Italian Union rejects the proportional representation in the representative bodies of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the set borders of the newly created states of Slovenia and Croatia, warning that the borders separate ethnical integrity of the resident minority group.
