Ljubljana, 5 December - The Maribor chapter of the international society The Bridge of Freedom presented the results of a recent telephone poll that are sympathetic towards the German minority in Slovenia. The society campaigns for the recognition of the German minority in the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia. It came as a surprise that the leader of the Carinthian Heimatdienst, Dr. Josef Feldner, who also participated at the press conference, stressed the peaceful and unbiased cooperation between Carinthians of German and Slovenian ethnic descent, and pledged for good neighborly relations with Slovenia. He also backed the demands of the Society that the German minority should be recognized in the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia and thus receive all the benefits already enjoyed by the Italian and Hungarian minorities. Mr. Dušan Kolnik, the president of the Society, stated at the press conference that their initiative aroused a lot of attention in the political parties of Maribor, but this interest waned in their Ljubljana headquarters. They nevertheless have the support of the Liberal Party, thus Mr. Kolnik.
