Prof. Miha Tišler, Ph.D., elected new Rector of the University of Ljubljana
Ljubljana, 12 December - Prof. Miha Tišler was elected the new Rector of the University of Ljubljana on today's session of the University Council. Prof. Tišler was born in 1926. After his B.Sc. at the University of Ljubljana, he worked with the Nobel laureate Prof. Todd in Cambridge as a British Council Fellow. He is a world renown expert in chemistry, a full member of the Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences, a corresponding member of the Serbian and Croatian Academies of Arts and Sciences, a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a recipient of the Kidrič Fund Award and a recipient of the professional awards in Slovakia and Japan. In the years 1978/1980 he was presiding over the International Society of Heterocyclic Chemistry. During the years 1973/1974 and 1975/1976 he was the Dean of the Ljubljana Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology.
