The first state agreement with the Russian Federation
Ljubljana, 12 December - "We just signed a protocol valued at about 720 million USD, but the Russians aim at an even higher trade exchange as well as at diplomatic cooperation", stated at the press conference following her return from Moscow the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Vojka Ravbar. The Slovenian imports from Russia will be mostly comprised of energy resources, oil, coal and gas, as well as wood products, textiles and chemicals. The Slovenian exports to Russia will be mostly furniture, home appliances, pharmaceutical products and baby food. The implementation of the protocol should start on December 25. The cooperation of export banks was also agreed upon, to be followed soon by a visit of a representative of the Slovenian banks to Moscow. A similar agreement on the trade cooperation has already been signed with Bielorussia.
