Milan Kučan in Gorica

Ljubljana, 15 December - Mr. Milan Kučan, President of the Presidency of the Republic of Slovenia, met with the unified representatives of Slovenians in Italy yesterday evening in Gorica. At the meeting, the representatives of the minority delivered him a detailed account of the current situation and stressed that, though there are some visible signs that the relationship towards the minority is improving, no basic movement has occurred in the field of legal protection. The parliamentary discussion on the law on the protection of minorities has run into a dead-end and it is now almost certain that it will not be adopted in this parliamentary legislature period.
