Statement from the representative of the German government
Ljubljana, 20 December - Last night, German government agreed to recognize all those Yugoslav republics, which will express a wish to be recognized as independent states by December 23rd. At the same time, the republics must give their assurance to abide by the conditions set by the European Community ministers on December 16th. This primarily relates to human rights and the rights of minorities and ethnic groups. They must also pledge to support the efforts of the UN General Secretary, UN Security Council and the continuation of the Conference on Yugoslavia.
