Ljubljana, 2 December - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 3 December:

LJUBLJANA - The parliament is to elect a new government, the eighth in a row since Slovenia's independence. Fifteen ministerial candidates nominated by Prime Minister Designate Janez Jansa are to be approved in an extraordinary session beginning at 10 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The newly-established parliamentary commission for preventing corruption is to present its agenda to the press at 9:45 AM.

ZAGREB, Croatia - Slovenian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Major General Ladislav Lipic, is due to pay an official visit to Croatia. He is to meet his Croatian counterpart, General Josip Lucic, and Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic.

NAIROBI, Kenya - Health Minister Dusan Keber is to attend the first Review Conference on the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction. He is to present an initiative for a mine-free region.

ZAGREB, Croatia - Slovenian cultural society in Zagreb, Slovenski dom, is to organise a ceremony at 7:30 PM to mark 75 years of its operations.

LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek is to receive Russian Ambassador Vyacheslav Dolgov on a farewell visit at 12:30 PM.

KRSKO - The fund for the decommissioning of the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) is to hold a news conference at 11 AM. (STA)

PORTOROZ - The two-day congress of the Slovenian Audit Institute, the first in a row, is to conclude.

MARIBOR - The main ceremony marking the 750th anniversary of the first written mention of Maribor, the country's second largest city, is to be held at 5 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Preseren Fund is to reveal this year's recipients of the Preseren Awards, the highest national awards for achievement in arts. A new conference scheduled for 12 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian cultural institutions are to hold open days as part of the "Merry Day of Culture", a celebration of the birth of France Preseren, Slovenia's greatest poet.
