Independence Day celebrated in the Republic of Slovenia
Ljubljana, 26 December - On December 23, 1990, a plebiscite was held in Slovenia that was attended by 93,5% of voters, of which 94,6% voted for an independent and autonomous Slovenia. December 26, on which the independence and autonomy of Slovenia was officially proclaimed, was later declared as the Independence Day holiday. On a ceremony to be staged at Prevalje this afternoon, commemorating the Independence Day, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Janez Janša, will decorate distinguished members of the Territorial Defense with the awards acknowledging their conduct and performance during the aggression on the Republic of Slovenia.
