The Ljubljana Summer Festival is to Feature Carreras and Rostropovič
Ljubljana, 17 August - FESTIVAL/LJUBLJANA/INTERNATIONAL/HISTORY/ORIENTATION
The International Summer Festival in Ljubljana, which opened its doors for the 42nd time this year, has in recent years spread out of the famous festival complex known as Plečnik's Križanke (the renovated monastery of the Order of the Knights of Cross) to other towns around Slovenia, especially to exclusive Slovene holiday resorts as Bled and Bohinj as well as to old towns as Ptuj. The Festival management wishes that the seven weeks of activities, which feature outstanding achievements of foreign and Slovene music, theater and dance artists and groups, would also grow in an event of national significance. In even strengthened cooperation with European Association of Festivals it is to attract more artists of international reputation; Jos Carreras and Mstislav Rostropovič, for example, announced their appearance in Ljubljana, said in an interview with the Slovene Press Agency (STA) the director of the Ljubljana Festival Katjuša Rojac.
