Ljubljana, 12 December - Schedule of events in the week from 13 to 19 December:

MONDAY, 13 December

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel will participate at the regular meeting of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC). The GAERC will discuss the bases for the upcoming EU summit which will decide on beginning of the negotiations with Turkey and Croatia, conclusion of negotiations with Bulgaria and Romania, and guidelines for further negotiations on the 2007-2013 financial perspective.

VIENNA, Austria - At the occasion of 10th anniversary of signing the convention on protection and sustainable use of the Danube river a two-day session of the international commission for protection of the Danube is to be held. The seventh annual meeting will see participation of Slovenia's delegation led by State Undersecretary at the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning Mitja Bricelj.

STRASBOURG, France - The beginning of the regular December session of the European Parliament.

BRDO PRI KRANJU - New Ljubljana Archbishop and Slovenian Metropolitan Alojz Uran will be received by President Janez Drnovsek.

LJUBLJANA - Members of the party council of the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) will discuss the disappointing results of the October election.

LJUBLJANA - Meeting of the parliamentary committee for finance and monetary policy to discuss amendments to the tax laws.

BRDO PRI KRANJU - President Janez Drnovsek will meet with this year's Zois Award winners.

LJUBLJANA - Panel discussion entitled "Is information of public character really accessible?" organised by the Peace Institute and the Information and Documentation Centre of the Council of Europe.

LJUBLJANA - Official opening of the Slovenian musical information centre (SIGIC), followed by a press conference.

LJUBLJANA - The beginning of the international animation film festival "Animateka: Re-Drawing Europe 2004". The festival will be running until 18 December.

WEDNESDAY, 15 December

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Two-day meeting of transport ministers of the quadrilateral - Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia. Slovenia will be represented by Minister Janez Bozic.

LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek will meet representatives of the Slovenian Armed Forces, the Police and the civil protection organisations.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary commission for budgetary and other public finance control will meet.

LJUBLJANA - Parliamentary commission for Slovenian abroad will meet.

LJUBLJANA - Post and telecommunications agency will hold a press conference.

LJUBLJANA - Press conference of the community of municipalities of Slovenia at which the activities of Slovenian members of the EU Committee of the Regions will be presented.

THURSDAY, 16 December

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Slovenia's PM Janez Jansa and FM Dimitrij Rupel will take part at the two-day EU summit which will discuss the start of the negotiations with Turkey and Croatia, the closure of negotiations with Bulgaria and Romania, and guidelines for the 2007-2013 financial perspective. The Primer Minister is also expected to participate at the meeting of leaders from the ranks of the European People's Party (EPP).

LJUBLJANA - The government will convene for the regular weekly session.

LJUBLJANA - Meetings of the parliamentary commission for supervision of the work of the intelligence and security services and the commission for the rules of procedure.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary committee for agriculture, forestry and food will discuss the proposed reform of the common market regulation for the sugar sector and the implementation of the nitrate directive.

LJUBLJANA - The assembly of the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute (ZPIZ) will be held after a meeting of the management board.

LJUBLJANA - Special ceremony in recognition of largest donors in 2004 for the new children's hospital. Conferring the awards will be Health Minister Andrej Brucan.

LJUBLJANA - Council of Europe's Information and Documentation Centre is organising a discussion on cultural co-operation and European cultural identity upon 50th anniversary of the European cultural convention.

FRIDAY, 17 December

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The two-day meeting of the European Council will wrap up. Slovenia will be represented by PM Janez Jansa and FM Dimitrij Rupel.

LJUBLJANA - Defence Minister Karl Erjavec will take part in a ceremony marking the day of the 1st Brigade of the Slovenian Armed Forces and anniversary of the foundation of special unit Moris. The ceremony will take place at the Franc Rozman Stane army barracks.

LJUBLJANA - The National Council, environment organisation Umanotera and cultural and heritage conservation organisation KD Nasa Slovenija-Slovenia Nostra are staging a meeting on life in protected areas.

KOPER - Insurance company Adriatic will present first estimate of this year's results.
