Ljubljana, 3 January - The DELO: DEMOS PUTS UP A SMOKESCREEN - It is obvious that the DEMOS coalition's manoeuvre of calling early elections is, by drawing the public's attention to oncoming changes in Parliament, an attempt to deflect public scrutiny from the government's failures and to prove that Parliament is to blame for the blockage in the system. Sadly, the oncoming election campaigns and disputes between the parties can not fail but to further deplete the already exhausted economy and bring the struggling lower class yet greater hardships in the battle for the impoverished inheritance of the new state. This is why this most recent "firecracker" let off by the coalition at the very beginning of the new year is bound to echo loudly - and definitely not favourably for a coalition with intentions of making an honourable retreat from the political scene, wrote Vinko Vasle.
