Kučan's letter to the Pope

Ljubljana, 15 January - Milan Kučan, the president of the Slovenian Presidency, today sent a letter to Pope John Paul II., in which Mr. Kučan shows gratitude for the support the Pope gave to Slovenia on its way towards independence, which would be much harder and longer without his endevours. Kučan stressed that the Vatican's official recognition of Slovenia represents a historical turning point in the relations between Slovenia and the Holy See.
