Ljubljana, 7 March - Below is a schedule of events for Tuesday, 8 March:

WASHINGTON D.C., the US - FM and OSCE chair Dimitrij Rupel is to end his several-day visit to the US with a meeting with Senator Sam Brownback, chair of the US Congress Helsinki Commission, and an address to the commission. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Education and Sport Milan Zver is to present his ministry's agenda for 2005. The press conference is scheduled for 1 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Local Self-Government and Regional Policy Ivan Zagar is to present his department's programme of priorities for 2005 at a news conference at 2:30 PM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk is to attend a session of the EU Economic and Financial Affairs Council. The ministers are expected to discuss the reform of the stability and growth pact, and the overhaul of the Lisbon Strategy.

LJUBLJANA - International Women's Day will be marked by several events, including the presentation of a survey on working parents by the government Office for Equal Opportunities at 10 AM. (STA)

BLED - The two-day, annual Slovenian Days of Local Self-Government are to be organised by the government Agency for Management at 9:15 AM, with attendance of Minister of Local Self-Government and Regional Policy Ivan Zagar. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary foreign affairs commission is to hold a closed-door session (12 AM); the commission for Slovenians abroad is to discuss guidelines for a national strategy on Slovenians in neighbouring countries (2 PM).

LJUBLJANA - PM Janez Jansa is to receive director of UNICEF Europe Regional Office Philip O'Brien at 12:30 PM. O'Brien is also scheduled to meet with Labour Minister Janez Drobnic at 9 AM.

PORTOROZ - The Slovenian Association of Co-operatives is to organise a two-day round table on the cooperation between co-operatives, the food-processing industry and retailers at 10 AM. The be attended by Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Marija Lukacic.

NOVA GORICA - Transport Minister Janez Bozic is to meet representatives of businesses from the northwestern region of Primorsko at 1:30 PM to discuss transport infrastructure and the problem hauliers have with Italy.

LJUBLJANA - An Iranian business delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Commerce Mojtaba Khosrowtaj, is to be received by Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak

LJUBLJANA - The 44th fair "Home" (Dom) is to open, featuring 524 companies from 26 countries until; 13 March.

LJUBLJANA - The National Council, the upper chamber of parliament, is to stage a public debate on the technology sector in Slovenia at 3 PM.
