PRESS REVIEW FROM SLOVENIA, Ljubljana, January 29 1992 (STA)

Ljubljana, 29 January - DELO: BETWEEN REALITY AND ILLUSION - The world turns with unbelievable speed. Even within the collective system of European security, which only yesterday seemed unalterable, the changes follow in rapid succession, one after another. The Slovenians, who with their obstinacy sponsored them, are now speeding along with the flow. At this moment, like a house-fly on the windshield of Europe, which primarily because of its vested interests is trying to escape from the present chaos to the somewhat more stable order, we are surpassing unbelievable distances. However, this authentic feeling of velocity can quickly vanish if we were to come under the impression that after Europe decreases its tempo, we will be able to emulate the house-fly and quickly slip into the passenger cabin. If during this short period, when Europe is preoccupied with itself, we do not succeed to undergo drastic changes, then they will again try to be rid of us, writes Damjan Slabe, in view of the report that Slovenia was given the observer status at the CSCE meeting in Prague.
