Ljubljana, 16 March - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 17 March:

LJUBLJANA - A two-day conference on public procurement of the European network of EU member states, acceding countries and other European states is to begin at 9:30 AM. The event will be opened by Bertrand Carsin, head of public procurement policy at the European Commission Internal Market Directorate General. A press conference is scheduled for 1:30 PM. (STA)

BRDO PRI KRANJU/LJUBLJANA - Uzbek President Islam Karimov is to meet Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and Speaker of Parliament France Cukjati on the last day of his official visit here.

LJUBLJANA - The government is to discuss the 2005 development report, which will serve as the basis for its economic and development policies and in the drafting of the Slovenian development strategy. (STA)

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Justice Ministry State Secretary Robert Marolt, accompanied by Supreme State Prosecutor's Office representatives, is to attend a meeting as part of the EPOC II pilot project aimed at the digitisation of prosecution. Also participating in the project, headed by the Italian Justice Ministry, are France, Romania and Eurojust.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A two-day meeting of the European Parliament and the national parliaments of the EU, debating the reform of the Lisbon Strategy, is to wrap up. Slovenia is to be represented by MPs Anton Kokalj (NSi), Milenko Ziherl (SDS), Feri Horvat (ZLSD) and Mitja Slavinec (LDS) and councillors Marta Turk and Jozko Cuk

ROME, Italy - A delegation of the parliamentary commission for Slovenians abroad is to wrap up a two-day visit to Italy by meeting Sieggfried Brugger, the chair of the group of minority MPs in parliament, and Slovenians in The Vatican.

LJUBLJANA - The supreme court is to hold a news conference at noon to present a project aiming at redueing backlog related to land register cases at district courts in Ljubljana and Maribor.

LJUBLJANA - Chair of the EU committee in the Turkish parliament Yasar Yakis is to take part in a debate at 3 PM about the relations between Turkey and the EU after 17 December, when the EU approved the beginning of accession talks. Yakis is also to be received by State Secretary for European Affairs Marcel Koprol.

LJUBLJANA - Public Administration Minister Gregor Virant is to receive a delegation of the International Monetary Fund for a meeting at 4:30 PM, which is expected to discuss public administration wages.

LJUBLJANA - Speaker of Parliament France Cukjati is to receive Hashim Thaqi, the head of the strongest opposition party in Kosovo, the PDK, at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Speaker of Parliament France Cukjati is to receive Deputy Irish PM and Health Minister Mary Harney at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The business magazine Podjetnik is to present the Entrepreneur of the Year award at a ceremony addressed by PM Janez Jansa at 7 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary agriculture committee is to discuss problems in the Slovenian cattle breeding at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of the Securities Market Members is to speak to the press after an assembly at 4:30.
