LJUBLJANA - President Janez Drnovsek, PM Janez Jansa and Speaker of the National Assembly France Cukjati are to make separate statements to the press upon the death of Pope John Paul II, who died last night. (STA)

LJUBLJANA/KOPER/MARIBOR - Special Masses are to be held in all three Slovenian dioceses for the late Pope John Paul II. Slovenian Archbishop Alojz Uran is to lead prayer services in the Slovenian capital at 10 AM and 4 PM.

MURSKA SOBOTA - A ceremony is to be held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the NE Slovenian region of Prekmurje from WWII occupying forces. Russian Ambassador to Slovenia Mikhail Vanin is expected to speak at the event.
