Parliament Backs EU Accession of Romania and Bulgaria

Ljubljana, 22 April - The parliament has unanimously endorsed the EU accession of Romania and Bulgaria, scheduled for 1 January 2007. The government had confirmed the latest round of enlargement last week, but because the accession will alter the EU treaties the matter had to be referred to parliament.
