Schedule of Events for Sunday, 1 May

Ljubljana, 30 April - Below is a schedule of events for Sunday, 1 May:

A number of events are to mark International Labour Day - a traditional bank holiday in Slovenia:

MARIBOR - Dusan Semolic, the head of the ZSSS, Slovenia's largest trade union confederation, and Secretary General of the European Confederation of Unions John Monks are to address the crowds gathered to celebrate May Day on the slopes overlooking the city of Maribor. Regional Development Minister Ivan Zagar is also expected to be on hand for the event that begins at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA/BREZICE - Labour Minister Janez Drobnic is to take part (10 AM) in a May Day event held on the Roznik hill in Slovenia's capital, while Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is set to take part in a traditional May Day event near Brezice.

DEBENEC NAD MIRNO - Slovenian MEP Alojz Peterle is to address a traditional event of workers from the Dolenjsko region marking Labour Day which is organised by the Association of Free Trade Unions (ZSSS); at 11 AM.

JAVOROVICA - A traditional celebration of May Day is to begin at 11 AM with President of the National Council Janez Susnik as the key-note speaker.
