Ljubljana, 17 May - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 18 May:

LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly is to debate amendments to the income tax act and public sector wages act. Lawmakers are also scheduled to vote on the proposed appointment of Aleks Stakul as the director general of public broadcaster RTV Slovenija. Moreover, Prime Minister Janez Jansa is to answer opposition questions on the last day of the May session. (STA)

OTTAWA, Canada - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is scheduled to begin a three-day working visit to Canada. As part of the visit he will be taking part in the 7th ministerial meeting of the Human Security Network. He is also scheduled to meet top Canadian officials.

LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - Chair of the EU affairs committee Anton Kokalj is to attend the meeting of the Conference of European Affairs Committees (COSAC).

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) is to stage a public debate on the government-sponsored changes to the pension and disability insurance act that would amend the way pensions are adjusted compared to wages; at 5 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs is to hold a news conference at noon to talk about the 2005 supplementary budget.

LJUBLJANA - Health Minister Andrej Brucan is to present the draft changes to the act on health care and health insurance at 2:30 PM.

POSTOJNA - The media will be able to view the Clever Ferret 2005 military exercise of the Multinational Land Force that brings together Slovenia, Italy and Hungary.

LJUBLJANA - The junior coalition Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) is to hold press conferences at 10 AM and 11:30 AM to speak about the forthcoming congress.

LJUBLJANA - A round table is to be held at 11 AM examining the challenges of project financing of infrastructure in Slovenia, featuring a number of respected economists.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Slovenian Cooperatives is to hold a press conference at 9:30 AM on milk prices and denationalisation claims.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian museums are to mark the International Museum Day.
