PRESS REVIEW FROM SLOVENIA

Ljubljana, 26 February - VEČER: REASON OR STRUGGLE FOR POWER? - According to the authors of the law, the compromise proposal of the law on ownership transformation is balanced and acceptable to all. The political parties will be deciding on it next week. At that time we will get the final and verified answer to the question whether the acceptance of this crucial law is being postponed because of the difficulty involved in reaching a decision on nature of ownership transformation or it is just a matter of political games - writes Vlado Paveo. The ruling coalition is very anxious that the law on privatization be adopted, even if this means sacrificing certain of its principles or some of its ministers. They expect that if the privatization law is passed, they will again be successful at the next parliamentary elections. The author anticipates that the opposition could oppose the adoption of the privatization law. For this reason, this essential law could be adopted only after the elections are over.
