EU Confirms Framework Plan For Expansion of Schengen Zone

Luxembourg, 3 June - EU interior ministers on Friday confirmed the framework time plan for the expansion of the Schengen passport-free zone to the ten newcomers, scheduled in October 2007. They endorsed the plan for evaluation procedures that the Union will carry out to assess whether the newcomers are ready to join the Schengen area.
