PEN Congress Debates Language Diversity
Bled, 15 June - The writers attending the 71st International PEN congress held a round-table discussion on language diversity on Wednesday. Nigerian poet Niyi Osundare, acting as the chair of the debate, stated in his presentation that language uniformity would bring no harmony to the world and that the attempt to form a common language had been futile due to its artificial nature.
