Ljubljana, 15 June - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 16 June:

BRUSSELS, Belgium - EU leaders will met for a summit to find a way out of the crisis in the aftermath of the double "no" vote on the constitution. They will also attempt to reach an agreement on the EU's budget framework for the 2007-2013 period. The meeting, which is expected to last for two-days, is to be attended by Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and State Secretary for European Affairs Marcel Koprol. Ahead of the summit, Jansa is due to take part in the meeting of leaders from the ranks of the European People's Party (EPP). (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is scheduled to meet European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs for talks dominated by priorities of the EU energy policy and anticipated legislation on energy to be adopted during Slovenia's stint at the helm of the EU in the first half of 2008.

FELDBACH, Austria - Interior Minister Dragutin Mate is expected to meet his Austrian counterpart Liese Prokop to confirm an approximate date of the annual migration conference at Brdo pri Kranju. The event is to be organised in late October by the Interior Ministry in cooperation with Austria's. EU-related issues are also expected to top the agenda.

LJUBLJANA - Parliament will resume the June session at 10 AM with a second reading of the bill dealing with the public broadcaster. The debate is expected to take almost 7 hours. (STA)

KRANJSKA GORA - Together Foundation is set to host a four-day international conference themed "Prevention of Violence against Children in Regions Affected by Armed Conflict and Social Adversities", to be attended by some 130 officials from regions and countries where the foundation carries out its programmes; starts at 3 PM. LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions (ZSSS) is to meet for an emergency session at 11 AM to debate the government-sponsored health reform. After, they will be joined by other trade unions for a noon rally in protest of the changes to the health care and health insurance act. (STA)

KAMNISKA BISTRICA - A Montenegrin association is to hold a ceremony at 11 AM to commemorate people from Montenegro who were killed in Slovenia at the end of WW II as they retreated along with the Chetniks. (STA)

BLED/BRDO PRI KRANJU - The 71st International PEN Congress is to continue with the round-table debate "Literature as Guardian of Cultural Landscape" at 4 PM, while President Janez Drnovsek is to host a reception for participants at 1:30 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The government commission on religious communities is to debate outstanding issues between the state and the Evangelic Lutheran Church. After the session, Justice Minister Lovro Sturm, who chairs the commission, and the head of the Office for Religious Communities Drago Cepar are to make statements for the press at 5 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The European Pool against Organised Crime is to convene a two-day meeting. Opening address by State Prosecutor General Barbara Brezigar and Justice Ministry State secretary Robert Marolt.

LJUBLJANA - A final public debate on the national research and development programme for the 2006-2010 period, featuring Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Jure Zupan; starts at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Catering Association is to hold a session at 10 AM to debate the Sunday closure of shops in tourist centres, camping sites and marinas.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Employers organises a seminar on the implementation of the Lisbon Strategy in Slovenia at 2:30 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Health Andrej Brucan is to speak to the press at 12:30 PM about the construction of a new children's hospital in Ljubljana.

LJUBLJANA - The RTV Slovenija Council is to hold a session at 10 AM to debate repeating a call for applications to fill the post of new director general of the public broadcaster. Other items, such as audited operations report, are also on the agenda.

LJUBLJANA - A two-day panel discussing ethics in medicine is to get under way at 9 AM.

CELJE - An exhibition of Japanese contemporary art is to open at the Gallery of Contemporary Art and the Likovni salon gallery at 7 PM.
