Review of Events in Slovenia from September 10 to 16

Ljubljana, 16 September - Slovene internal politics were dominated by the resignation of Speaker of Parliament Herman Rigelnik in the past week, who was replaced by Jožef Školč, leader of the parliamentary group of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS), elected by Parliament on Friday. Immediately after this election, leader of the second strongest coalition party, the Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD) Lojze Peterle resigned, intending to step down on October 1 from his post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister.
