Schedule of Events for Friday, 15 July

Ljubljana, 14 July - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 15 July:

LJUBLJANA - Parliament is to wrap up its regular session to take a revote on the bill dealing with the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija after this was vetoed by the National Council, the upper chamber. MPs are also expected to take a final vote on amendments to the pension act, amendments to the local elections act and amendments to the local government act, among other things. The session starts at 10 AM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - EU finance ministers or state secretaries in charge of budget are to debate the proposed EU budget for 2006. Slovenia is to be represented by head of the permanent mission to the EU Ciril Stokelj.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary EU affairs committee is to meet behind closed doors at 8:30 AM to debate the 18 and 19 July session of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council, and the 18 July session of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council. The chair, Anton Kokalj, is to make a statement to the press after the session at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The National Council is set to convene an extraordinary session at noon to hear British Ambassador Tim Simmons outline the priorities of British EU presidency between 1 July and 31 December.

LJUBLJANA - Mihael Brejc, a member of European Parliament, is to hold a press conference at noon to discuss the decree dealing with border traffic on the EU's external land borders and its consequences for Slovenia.

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce (GZS) is to host a conference on technological platforms, to be attended by European Commissioner for Science and Research Janez Potocnik. A round-table debate with Potocnik is scheduled for 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Agency for Technological Development is to present Austria's model of methods for the implementation of competitiveness-boosting measures, and practical examples; at 9 AM.

NOVO MESTO - Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak is due to visit Revoz, the subsidiary of the French car maker Renault.

LJUBLJANA - Transport Ministry is to hold a press conference at 9:30 AM to speak about the implementation of its programme of work in the first half of the year and present a resolution on Slovenia's transport policy.

LJUBLJANA - The Office for Money Laundering Prevention is set to present its report for 2004 at a press conference scheduled for 10 AM (STA).

KRANJ - Slovenia will play against Latvia at 11 AM in the first Davis Cup match of the second round in the second Euro-African group. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Jim Jarmusch's "Coffee and Cigarettes" will open the "Cinema Under Stars" series at Ljubljana Castle. The show starts at 10 PM.
