Ljubljana, 23 July - The media were in furore this week when it transpired that police had been collecting information about a journalist of the private broadcaster POP TV. The government continued to roll out new legislation, unfazed by the resignation of two senior officials and the announced departure of the second in command at the Finance Ministry. In a rare show of unity, meanwhile, all parties agreed that Slovenia should negotiate as one region in the EU budget talks, at least as long as this proves more favourable.
